Reading « T-Shirts anybody? » as Personal blog

By BeStylin on September 13th, 2007 @ 18:24

The UK have done it, the US have done it, even France and Brazil have done it. Yet there seems to be a lack of a successful web based t-shirt design competition within Australia. Enter BeStylin.com.
The evolution of Sydney based BeStylin spawned from the creative depths of Nathan Wong, co-founder of XF Empire, Sydney’s premiere nightclub photography company.
As a passionate photographer and designer, he realized he was never going to afford his 2009 Nissan Skyline GTR on a designer wage or as a photographer, so he set out to design a line of t-shirts to release onto the world. Through his research he discovered many ‘must have’ tees already floating around the internets by very talented designers worldwide which he was to either embrace or compete with.

Having read various chapters of Rich Dad poor dad he chose to embrace them with arms wide open. The keyword that popped up through a random chapter was “Leverage”

Hence forth the original idea evolved into a t-shirt competition and grew into a monster community website where website members receive ongoing commissions for having their winning designs printed, general members receive commissions for referring new sales with their personal referral link, and different members are able to collaborate with each other to mix up styles resulting fresh and different designs.
Now designers, illustrators and photographers can collaborate on a truly unique design.
We need not limit our colour palette nor conform to the norm. We are all designers at heart and will not be bound by limitations.

From the initial t-shirt designs produced to launch the site, it is obvious the site is aiming for more, “I want this now!” artwork rather than quirky comments or illustrations, but this is fashion and anything goes.

Now its time to promote like hell and bring on board some serious cutting edge artists. Glad to be here and look forward to submitting some designs soon! ***
