I’m confused, what’s this site about?
BeStylin.com is an online store which produces its apparel from the online design competition which has a focus on fashionable artwork.
You do not need to participate to purchase items within the store but we recommend you do purely because its fun.

How to submit a tee
Anybody is welcome to submit a tee, its as easy as 1,2,3.
1 Just register as a member and login.
2 Down the right hand column you will see the "Submit artwork" link. Click it.
3 Follow the instructions to submit your artwork. If you need a template for artwork placement, feel free to download a template from our "download templates" link.

If you followed all of the rules and specifications, your design will appear on the site to be voted on by the BeStylin community. If its 'da bom' it will be chosen to be printed.

PRIZES !?
If your design is chosen, you will receive an initial cash prize which come in the form of points. You can chose to cash this in straight away or wait for your commissions to build up (the smarter option).

SOLO design winner: 2500 pts + 3 tees = 3900 pts
2 person collaboration winner: 1000 pts + 2 tees = 1700 pts per member
3 person collaboration winner: 800 pts + 2 tees = 1500 pts per member
4 person collaboration winner: 500 pts + 2 tees = 1200 pts per member

In addition to this, you will be able to earn ongoing commissions for the tees sold with your design as mentioned a little further down the page.

Please note that as the site grows we hope to be able to offer the winners more in cash and prizes :)

How does the Collaboration work?
You are allowed to participate in only 1 collaboration per competition.
You will be able to remove yourself from the collaboration or get kicked out if you are not working well with others. After you have been removed from a collaborative group, you will not be able to rejoin another collaboration till the next competition begins.
To make the best of a collaboration, try work with people who have different skill sets or styles to your own. Who knows what will come out of it.


How do I earn points?
Points can be accumulated by winning either the solo competition or collaborative competition or by referring new sales with our affiliate program.
22 points will be earnt if you refer a new customer who purchases a tee at the base price of $35
20 points per t-shirt will be earnt if you refer a new customer who purchases 3 or more tees at the bulk rate of $30 per t-shirt.
The first 300 members automatically receive 100 credits in their account when they sign up.

How can I redeem my cash?
Currently we use Paypal to send international cash payments.
You will need a Paypal account to receive these payments.
For accounts within Australia, you will be able to choose between Paypal or have wire transfer your cash redemptions straight into your bank account.
These payments are made once at the end of every month.

My country does not support Paypal. Is there any alternative payment methods?
Sorry, the only service currently available for cash redemptions is Paypal.
If you have accumulated a lot of points, feel free to exchange them for specially discounted t-shirts.
Hopefully we will be able to have an international wire transfer service in the near future.

What is "Your referral link"?
This is the link you use to earn points. Points you can use to exchange for discounted t-shirts or cash redemptions.
Just copy and paste the link from any page to your email signature, to your favourite chat program, to your Myspace or Facebook, to your website and it will keep track of everybody who comes into the site via your link.
You will then earn points if that person is a new member and purchases some tees.

What kind of artwork can I submit?
We are looking for fashionable illustrations which do not need to be works of art, just well executed concepts.
We enjoy people pushing the boundaries of what is socially accepted but please do not post anything too graphic or vulgar as it will be taken off the site.

But I’m not a designer!?
That’s ok. If you have a fashionable photo/image and/or an idea, try collaborating with a designer or illustrator on the website to remix your image to come up with a completely original idea.

How does refer a friend work?
Enter your friends email address and they will be sent an email with your referral link to visit the site.
If you are signed in under your account, you will receive points if they end up purchasing a t-shirt.

How many colours can I design for?
As many as you want on lighter coloured tees so go wild (but don’t forget about aesthetics, colour balance and themes). Darker coloured tees (currently black, are only limited to 4 colours)

The following points are based around the base purchase price of $35:
Solo design   = 35pts

2 person collaboration = 11pts each : total = 22pts
3 person collaboration = 11pts each : total = 33pts
4 person collaboration = 11pts each : total = 44pts

The following points are based around the bulk purchase price of $30:
Solo design  = 30pts
Solo design - Unlimited (lighter garments only) = 20pts
2 person collaboration = 10pts each : total = 20pts
3 person collaboration = 10pts each : total = 30pts
4 person collaboration = 10pts each : total = 40pts

The following points are based around the point redemption purchase price of $25:
Solo design  = 25pts
2 person collaboration = 8pts each : total = 16pts
3 person collaboration = 8pts each : total = 24pts
4 person collaboration = 8pts each : total = 32pts

What is the maximum size I can design for?
Your designs can range from 270 x 270mm or up to 375mm wide x 475mm high.

What are the design specifications?
* Design data must be 100-percent-sizing and be up to 200dpi/CMYK mode, suitable for printing on a T-shirt.
* If Illustrator is used, each letter must be outlined and all linked files must be stored in the same folder.
* Allowable program versions are up to CS3 for Illustrator and Photoshop.
* File names must be alphanumeric and accompanied by an appropriate suffix (e.g., .psd, .jpg, .png or .ai).
*Be sure to have a high resolution version of your art ready in case you win.

Do I have to design for a specific theme?
The theme is here to provide a structure to work off. We realise it is sometimes hard to come up with particular ideas for illustrations, so the theme has been put in place to help guide your design.
Either embrace it with arms wide open or hide it in a little corner of the design. The judges are however looking for the most creative designs relating in most part to the theme.

Why do you need judges if the designs are voted for by the community?
Judges have the final say in what gets printed. This prevents cheating and exploitation of our system.
The votes are there to provide Judges with a rough guide as to what type of designs the community loves or loves to hate (but mainly loves).

How do I earn more from my design?
The more you sell the more you earn. So make like a business person and start promoting it!
You will earn commissions on every t-shirt sold with your design on it plus and additional 22pts or 20pts for everybody that buys your design from your referral link.

Why do you want to know so much information about my personal t-shirt preference?
This information is used to run the site more efficiently. A more efficient business means savings are passed onto the customers, you.

How long does delivery usually take?
After you place your order, an e-mail confirmation including an order number, will be sent to the e-mail address that was entered when you registered to the site. Once your payment has been approved, your item will be packed and dispatched.
If you reside in Australia, this will usually be 1-3 working days (Please allow an extra day for W.A and regional areas). International orders will take 7-10 working days and will vary depending on what part of the world you live.

I’m after an item that is marked “sold out”
If we are sold out of an item which we are still stocking for a period of time, please be patient as reprints are likely underway.
If the initial 3 seasons is up for the design and we are sold out of an item reprints will only be made at the disgression of BeStylin.com.

How true are the garment colours of the products for sale?
We try to represent the garment colours as close as possible to the original. However, we cannot guarantee colour accuracy due to varied monitor setups.

What if an item doesn’t fit, or I don’t like it once I have received it?
